How to have fulfilling relationships?

Although we don’t consciously realize it, we are constantly operating based on what our parent’s beliefs or ideals are, and in turn, make them our own without ever establishing what is TRUE for us.

Relationship; the way in which two or more concepts, objects, or people are connected, or the state of being connected.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think about the word relationship is the connection that I have with my friends, family, and romantic parties. However, before those relationships, we in relationship to soo many more things, most importantly – we are in a relationship with self. It is this singular starting point that is the blueprint for every existential relationship that we have as humans.

I used the Confidence Booster worksheet to rewrite the beliefs that I had (unconsciously established) about myself, much of which was based on the ideas of those around me; especially those of my parents. Although we don’t consciously realize it, we are constantly operating based on what our parent’s beliefs or ideals are, and in turn, make them our own without ever establishing what is TRUE for us. Unfortunately, what this does is create a false sense of individualism and more importantly, it takes the fun out of life.

In my journey to becoming my best self, I had to refine, define and design many of the relationships in my life – starting with some of the most personal; my body, food, and money.  I had to reflect and decipher whether or not these relationships were living examples of what I want and aim to accomplish in my life. Creating new beliefs has resulted in releasing 65 pounds and being able to create a new relationship with money; extremely important in becoming an entrepreneur.

Although we don’t consciously realize it, we are constantly operating based on what our parent’s beliefs or ideals are………..

In order to truly live – rewriting old beliefs and replacing them with your own is a great first step.

Some of the areas I created new beliefs about are:

Body

Food

Money

Health

Spirituality

Love & Expression

Relationship

Career

The relationships that I reviewed are all the major parts of who I am as a person. Focusing here first supported me in starting with a solid foundation when creating external relationships. In order to review how you show in a relationship – firstly with yourself,  I have established a 5 step method.

5 Vibes To Relationships That Work

integrity1: firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values: incorruptibility. 2: an unimpaired condition: soundness. 3: the quality or state of being complete or undivided: completeness.

Operate in Integrity –Β When we operate from a state of integrity, there is nothing to hide – you are willing to put yourself on the line to help others and get what you want. Not allowing what could be, or others opinion sway you in your action.

Take Responsibility – If you don’t take responsibility, you actually give up control of your life. Taking responsibility is a big part of relationships being successful because it puts you in a position of power. When you can take responsibility for your actions, a space for learning and success is created.

Cleary Communicate Your Requirements – Take the time to discover what you want and then COMMUNICATE clearly what those things are. Every relationship should always create a WIN/WIN – where both sides walk away feeling fulfilled. This is only accomplished by expressing what is needed at the outset.

Commit/ReCommit Often – Life is continuously throwing curve balls our way. Many of which have the capability of throwing us off our game, if we allow them to. The best way to combat this is to continuously recommit to the reason WHY you are doing what you do.

Take Action – There is no such thing as “actions speaking louder than words” – Our actions must match our word in order to create the results we want.
